White Sauce Recipe
White sauce is popularly also known as bechamel sauce.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup – Milk
1/4 cup – Parmesan cheese (optional)
1 tbsp – Butter
2 tbsp – Flour
1/8 tsp – Pepper
1 pinch – Nutmeg
2 pinch – Mustard (optional)
Salt to taste
Method:
Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat and add the flour.
Keep stirring the roux till you get a light glossy tinge.
Heat milk (lukewarm) and add it to the roux.

Apart from this simple base recipe, to enrich the flavour you can make your own variations, either by flavouring milk, adding cream or cheese.
Flavour the milk
Ingredients:
2 tsp – Butter
1 No – Bay leaf
1 No – Clove
1 No – Shallot or Onion sliced into half
6 No – Peppercorns
1 tbsp – Fresh Thyme
Pinch of mustard
Method:
Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat and add all the ingredients.
Let the mix cook on low heat till it reaches a simmer. Then turn off the heat strain and save the liquid and discard the rest.
