White Sauce Recipe

Bechamel Sauce or White Sauce


Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup - Milk
1/4 cup - Parmesan cheese (optional)
1 tbsp - Butter
2 tbsp - Flour
1/8 tsp - Pepper
1 pinch - Nutmeg
1 pinch - Mustard (optional)
Salt to taste


Method:
Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat and add the flour.
Keep stirring the roux till you get a light glossy tinge.
Heat milk (lukewarm) and add it to the roux.
Keep stirring till the roux thickens and add the seasonings. Knorr White Sauce 2 lb - 2 Unit Pack

Apart from this simple base recipe, to enrich the flavour you can make your own variations, either by flavouring milk, adding cream or cheese.


Flavour the milk


Ingredients:
2 tsp - Butter
1 No - Bay leaf
1 No - Clove
1 No - Shallot or Onion sliced into half
6 No - Peppercorns
1 tbsp - Fresh Thyme
Pinch of mustard


Method:
Melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat and add all the ingredients.
Let the mix cook on low heat till it reaches a simmer. Then turn off the heat strain and save the liquid and discard the rest.
