Vegetarian Casserole Recipe
The word casserole has had a complex origin.
It has progressed from different words, kuathos in Greek, to cattia in Latin and finally the French word casse, which became casserole, in 17th century.
Casserole is a mix of foods cooked together, over a long span in a cooking dish or pot. This form of cooking was derived, from the ancient method of slow stewing, in earthen wears.
The early 18th century casseroles were both savoury and sweet. Usually it was rice pounded to enclose fillings. To enjoy casseroles Buy The Big Book of Casseroles: 250 Recipes
However modern casseroles are relatively different.
They are an assortment of vegetables, beans and combined with pasta or rice and a binder, which will hold them together (thick sauce).
The mixture is then placed in an ovenproof bakeware (especially thick glass one) which can withstand heat for a longer duration in this way not letting the food burn. Buy quality bakeware Enameled Cast-Iron 3-Quart Covered Casserole.
