Vegetarian Burger Recipe – Chinese Burger
Ingredients:
Burger buns
1/2 cup – Oil
1 1/2 cup – Tofu firm
1 No – Pepper large finely chopped
1/8 cup – Mushroom finely chopped
1 No – Green onion large finely chopped
2 tbsp – Cliantro/basil minced
1/4 tsp – Garlic minced
1/8 tsp – Ginger minced
1/4 tsp – Five spice powder
1/4 tsp – Poblano chillies/red chillies finely chopped
1 tbsp – Plum sauce
1/8-1/4 cup – Bread crumbs (if needed)
Lettuce leaves
Method:
Heat oil in a frying pan over high flame. Add the mushrooms, ginger, garlic and chillies stir fry for 1 min.
Add peppers, green onions and plum sauce and fry further for another 2 mins. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cut the 1/2 tofu in chunks and blend in a food processor along with basil.
Grate the remaining tofu and combine all the ingredients (adjust seasoning if needed).
Roll out the dough to make patties or knead to a dough and refrigerate for about 30 mins (if you feel the patties requires a firmer consistency, then only add bread crumbs as needed).
Grind the bread crumbs and add to the above mix.
Add more oil to the fry pan (where mushrooms were cooked)shallow fry the patties. Drain on paper towels.
Or add 2-3 tbsp of oil and place the patties and let it cook till brown on both sides.
Drizzle some mayonnaise on the bread place the patty and press with rocket/lettuce leaves and serve.
Instead of plum sauce you can use hoisin, sichuan or any other chinese sauce.
