Sweet and Sour Sauce Recipe

Sweet and sour sauce is made by combining 2 flavours both sweet and sour to create a distinctly tangy flavour. Though strongly associated with Chinese cuisine but this type of sauce is also prevelant in other culutres as well for e.g. cranberry.
The original sweet and sour sauce recipe was from Hunan province of China. It was very different from that of today.The sauce was a mixture of vinegar and sugar, with a few other local spices, usually used as a dip or for salads, rather than in cooking.

Sweet & Sour Sauce

Ingredients:
1 tbsp – Soy sauce
3/4 cup – Pineapple juice
3 tbsp – Brown Sugar
1/4 cup – Vinegar
2 tbsp – Ketchup
1-2 tbsp – Cornstarch
2 tbsp – Water

Method:
Mix all the ingredients and cook over low heat until thickened. Get the Original Flavour with Sweet N Sour Sauce

Variation

Ingredients:
1/4 cup – Tomato sauce
3 tbsp – White vinegar
1/4 cup – Water
2 tbsp – Sugar
1 tbsp – Oil
1/2 tsp – Salt

Method:
Mix all the ingredients and cook over low heat.
When it boils, simmer for 2-3 mins. Remove from heat and cool. Get the Original Flavour with Mae Ploy Sweet Chili Sauce
