Rice Recipes - 15


Pulao Rice


Ingredients:
1 No - Bay leaf
2 tsp - Oil
1 cup - Rice
1 No - Potato large chopped
1 No - Carrot medium chopped
1/4 cup - Peas
1/4 cup - French beans chopped
1/4 tsp - Cumin seeds
2 cup - Water
Pinch or two of turmeric
Salt to taste


Method:
Heat oil in a stock pot or a pressure cooker and add the cumin.
Then add the vegetables, rice and water.
Let the mix cook till done.
Add lemon juice if desired. Serve hot.

Recipe - 16


Khichdi


Ingredients:
1 tbsp - Ghee
1/2 cup - Rice
1/2 cup - Yellow gram (moong dal)
1/4 tsp - Cumin
1 No - Green chilli
1 No - Onion chopped
Pinch of turmeric
Salt to taste

Method:
Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin green chilli and onion. Cook till brown.
Steam the lentil and rice in a pressure cooker.
Mix well and add it to the onion mix (you can pour additional ghee in the khichdi if desired).
Serve hot with yogurt.

You can make the same recipe by replacing yellow moong with green moong (green gram). But do not add any turmeric to the green lentils.
For this recipe you only need to steam the rice and dal.
Mix it well and pour ghee and serve.
