Lentil Recipes – Sambhar
Ingredients:
4 tbsp – Oil
1 tsp – Asofedita (Full Hing)
2 tbsp – Coriander seeds
1 tbsp – Cumin seeds
1 tbsp – Garlic paste
4 No – Kashmiri red chilli
1 tbsp – Bengal gram (channa dal)
3 tbsp – Coconut (grated)
1 No – Red Onion large chopped
1 No – Green pepper chopped
5 No – Red pumpkin pieces (bhopla)
5 No – Drumstick slices
1 cup – Orange lentils (masur dal)
1 tbsp – Jaggery
1 tbsp – Curry leaves
1 tbsp – Tamarind dissolve in hot water
Salt to taste
Method:
Take the first 7 ingredients briefly fry them and then grind to make a paste or For Enhanced Flavour USE Buy MTR Sambar Powder 200g OR rice. Buy Jyoti Natural Foods Madras Sambar
Steam the dal in 2 cups of water and blend when cooked.
Fry onions, capsicum, pumpkin and drumsticks in a pan.
Add garlic paste and cook further for 1-2 mins.
Then add the dal and when it comes to a boil, add the ground paste. Cook further. (if there is any froth please remove it).
Add curry leaves, tamarind water, jaggery and some sugar.
Cook for another 8-10 mins. Serve hot with rice.
