Lentil Recipes – Khatti Dal
Ingredients:
1 tbsp – Ghee/oil
3/4 cup – Tuvar dal (yellow hulled)
1 No – Raw mango peeled grated
2 No – Dried red chilli
1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
4-5 No – Cashewnuts broken
1/4 tsp – Mustard seeds
1/4 tsp – Garlic finely chopped
2 No – Green chillies finely chopped
1/2 tsp – Curry leaves chopped
2 No – Tomatoes diced
1 tbsp – Coriander chopped
1/4 tsp – Turmeric
1/4 tsp – Salt
Method:
Clean and wash the dal properly. Steam the dal along with the mango (2 whistles).
Heat ghee in a pan and add the cashews, cumin, curry leaves, chilli, garlic, ginger and cook till fragrant.
Then add the tomatoes and seasonings.
Mix the dal and let it simmer for a few mintues.
Then garnish with coriander and serve hot.
