Lentil Recipes – Kadhi

Ingredients:
1 tbsp – Ghee
2 tbsp – Gram flour
1/4 cup – Yogurt or curd
1/2 tsp – Garlic paste
1/2 tsp – Ginger paste
1/4 tsp – Coriander powder (optional)
1 No – Onion small chopped
1 tsp – Cumin seed
1/4 tsp – Turmeric
1/4 tsp – Green chillies
1/4 tsp – Curry leaves chopped
1/4 tsp – Coriander leaves
1/4 tsp – Red chilli
Water as needed
Salt to taste

Method:
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds when they splinter add the onions and curry leaves cook till onion browns.
Then add the ginger, garlic, green chilli and turmeric to the mix.
Beat the gram flour with the curd and add it.
Then add some water and let the mix boil at least let it boil for about 7-10 mins.
Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
You can add spinach and make spinach kadhi.
You can add mixed vegetables and make vegetable kadhi.

Gujrati Kadhi

Ingredients:
1/2 tbsp – Ghee
1 tbsp – Gram flour
1/4 cup – Yogurt or curd
1 tsp – Jaggery
1/2 tsp – Ginger
1/4 tsp – Fenugreek seeds
1/4 tsp – Mustard seed
1/2 tsp – Cumin seed
1/4 tsp – Turmeric
1 tsp – Green chillies chopped
1 tsp – Curry leaves chopped
1 tbsp – Coriander leaves
Water for the consistency

Method:

Then add ginger, green chilli and turmeric and jaggery to the mix.
Then beat the gram flour with the curd and add to it.
Then add some water and let the mix boil at least let it boil for about 7 mins and then garnish with coriander and serve hot.

Gujrati kadhi is thin in consistency so add quite a bit of water.
