Lentil Recipes – Cholay/Chickpea Curry

Ingredients:
3 tbsp – Oil
1 1/2 cup – Chickpeas
1/4 tsp – Curry leaves minced
5 No – Garlic minced
1 inch – Ginger finely grated
2 No – Onion medium finely chopped
2 cup – Tea water
1/4 tsp – Chilli powder
1/2 tsp – Amchur powder
1/2 tsp – Garam masala
3 No – Tomatoes finely chopped
2 tsp – Coriander powder
1-2 tsp – Date paste
1 tbsp – Cholay Masala
Salt to taste

Method:
Soak the chickpeas over night in 2-3 cups of water.
Take a cup of water add some tea leaves and boil let it cool.
Then add that water to the chickpeas (atleast for 1-2 hours it should soak) .

Heat oil in a pan and add onions and fry till brown.
Add ginger garlic and cook for 2 mins.
Add the remaining dry ingredients.
Add the tomatoes and date paste cook the masala till it leaves oil (7-10 mins).
Add chickpeas with water and steam the mix in a cooker (3 whistles on low flame and then 1 on high flame then turn off). Wait for 5-7 mins before opening the cooker. Try Kitchens Of India Ready To Eat Pindi Chana, Chick Pea Curry

For best results use MTR or Mangal Punjabi cholay masala. Buy MTR Chana Masala
