Lentil Recipes – Chawli Dal/Black Eyed Bean
Ingredients:
1 tbsp – Oil
1 No – Bay leaf
1 cup – Rongi/lobia dal (black eyed beans)
1 No – Onion grated
1/4 tsp – Ginger grated
1/4 tsp – Garlic grated
1 tsp – Coriander powder
1/4 tsp – Garam masala
1/4 cup – Tomato puree
2 tbsp – Curd
3 tbsp – Malai (cream)
1/2 tsp – Red chilli powder
Pinch of cumin powder
Salt to taste
Method:
Instead of grating you can also grind ginger, garlic and onion and then cook.
Clean and wash the dal properly. Soak it in water for 2-3 hours.
Boil it in 2-2.5 cups of water till it becomes soft.
Alternatively, steam it in pressure cooker for 7-10 mins on a high flame. Then turn too a low fame and cook till done. Or

Heat oil in a pan add the bay leaf, ginger, garlic and onion and cook till golden.
Add the tomatoes and masalas and cook till mixture separates from oil.
Then add in the curd and malai mix and let it cook for a while 5-7 mins (should well blend).
Add the dal and bring to a boil. Serve hot.
