Lentil Recipes - 7


White Urad Dal


Ingredients:
1 tbsp - Ghee
2 No - Dried red chilli (optional)
1 cup - White urad dal
1 tsp - Cumin seeds
1/4 tsp - Ginger finely chopped
1/4 tsp - Green chillies finely chopped
1 No - Onion diced
1 No - Tomato diced
1 tsp - Coriander powder
1 tbsp - Coriander chopped
2 tbsp - Lemon juice
1/8 tsp - Turmeric
1/8 tsp - Salt


Method:
Clean and wash the dal properly. Soak it in water overnight.
Boil it in 4-5 cups of water till it becomes soft.
Alternatively steam it in pressure cooker for 7-10 mins on a high flame. Then turn too a low fame and cook till done. Buy Ajika Urad Dal (lentil without skin)
Heat ghee in a pan and add a cumin seed to see if it crackles.
Then add the rest along with red chillies. Add onion, ginger and green chilli and saute till brown.
Add the tomatoes and the masala and continue to cook for about 5 mins.
Then add the dal and lemon juice. Add more salt if needed.
Add hot water to get the desired liquid consistency.
Bring it to a boil and garnish with coriander and serve hot with rice. Free spice sample of your choice click here


Lentil Recipes - 8


Rasam


Ingredients:
1 tbsp - Oil
1/4 cup - Masoor dal (red lentil)
3 No - Tomatoes
1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds
2 No - Red chilli dried
1/4 tsp - Tamarind paste
1 tsp - Garlic crushed
1/8 tsp - Turmeric
1 tsp - Rasam powder
1 tsp - Curry leaves
1 cup - Water
Salt to taste


Method:
Wash and pressure cook the dal and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and when they crackle, add red chillies and saute for a min or two.
Add crushed garlic, curry leaves and stir for a minute.
Add chopped tomatoes, tamarind and salt and stir, for a while.
Add turmeric and rasam powder (Buy MTR Rasam Mix) and stir for a few seconds.
Add the dal and water and bring to a boil.
Garnish with coriander. Serve hot. Buy MTR Rasam Curry Rice
