Mixed Black Dal Ingredients: 1/4 cup - Green Gram (Moong) cooked 2/3 cup - Black Whole (Masur) cooked 1/4 cup - Brown beans sprouted (Mauth) cooked 2 tbsp - Ghee 1/2 tsp - Cumin Seeds 5 No – Garlic clove finely chopped 1 inch - Ginger finely chopped 1/2 tsp - Red chilli powder 2 No - Onion chopped 2 tbsp - Coriander fresh 1 tsp - Corinader powder 1 tsp - Garam masala Salt to taste Method: Heat ghee in pan and when it sizzles add cumin seeds and onion. When the onions start turning brown add the ginger, chilli, garlic to it and let them cook for a while. Add the dal. Simmer and cook till done. Garnish with coriander. Buy Green Lentils You can leave out the mauth if you want. Then change the measurement to 3/4 Masur and 1/4 Moong. Recipe - 6 Dal Palak Ingredients: 1/4 cup - Pigeon Pea (tur) or White Urad dal or both 2 tbsp - Ghee 1 cup - Spinach finely chopped 1 tsp - Garlic minced 1/4 tsp - Ginger grated 1/4 tsp - Coriander powder (optional) 1 No - Onion small chopped 1/2 tsp - Cumin seed 1/4 tsp - Turmeric 1 tsp - Lemon juice 1/4 tsp - Green chilli finely chopped 1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds 1 No - Tomato large chopped or 2 tbsp - Tomato puree Salt to taste Method: Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds when they splinter add the cumin and then onion. Cook till onions get soft. Then add ginger, garlic and green chilli and cook till brown. Add tomatoes, lemon juice and masala and cook till the mix leaves oil. Add spinach and dal and cook till done.
