Lentil RecipesLentil Recipes - 2 Black Dal - Makhani Dal or Dhabey ki Dal
Ingredients: 2 tbsp - Oil 1 tbsp - Butter 1 tbsp - Garlic finely chopped 1 inch - Ginger finely chopped 1 tsp - Garam masala 1/4 cup - Kidney beans (rajma) 1 cup - Black Bengal gram (whole urad) 1/4 cup - Black Bengal gram split (split urad) 3 No -Tomatoes 1/2 cup - Tomato puree 1/4 cup - Kashmiri red chilli soaked 2 No - Onion chopped 1/4 tsp - Dry fenugreek powder (kesuri methi) 1/4 cup - Fresh cream (malai) 1 tbsp - Fresh cream or (malai) Salt to taste Method: Soak the dal overnight. Add a pinch of soda to the dal and give 3 steams in the pressure cooker. Steam the split black dal separately and blend to get a fine paste. Kashmiri Paste Soak kashmiri red chillies overnight and then blend it into a fine paste. Soaking will gives the deep red colour and better flavour to the recipe. If you forget to soak kashmiri chillies, boil it before grinding to get the deep red colour. Heat oil in pan and saute onions, when the onions start to brown add garlic and ginger and kashmiri mix. Let it cook for a while 5-7 mins. Add the tomatoes (peeled, chopped and pureed), salt and let the mix cook till leaves oil. Add the lentils and simmer cook till well combined. Beat fresh cream or malai and add it with the kesuri methi to the lentils, before they come to a boil. Garnish with butter and serve. Try with biryani.
