Italian Appetizers – Easy Garlic Bread & Bruschetta
Garlic bread is made using French or Italian bread with a topping of fresh or powdered garlic and butter/olive oil. This bread is normally sliced downwards (half way), allowing the condiments to soak into it, yet keeping it intact.
Some variants are also topped with a variety of cheeses to enhance flavour.
Ingredients:
1 No – Oblong or French bread
4 tbsp – Butter
1/2 tsp – Garlic minced
1 tsp – Herbs
1/2 tsp – Salt
Method:
Beat the butter, garlic, herbs and salt and set aside.
Slice the bread in a slant only making half an inch thick slices. Make sure the bread remains intact and doesn’t cut al the way through.

Italian Appetizers - Bruschetta
Bruschetta derived from the Italian word ‘bruscare‘, which means ‘to roast over coals’, originated in 15th century Italy. This antipasto was often prepared using a brustolina grill and made with herbs and tomatoes or pork and spices.
Ingredients:
4 tbsp – Olive oil
1 No – French bread
4 No – Tomatoes
2 tbsp – Basil leaves chopped
1 tsp – Garlic
2 tsp – Blasmic Vinegar
Pepper to taste
Salt to taste
Method:
Brush the tomatoes and bread slices with oil.
Grill the bread slices, until dark grill marks appear and the bread is crisp.
Core the tomatoes and then chop them and transfer to a bowl. Stir in the rest. Let the mix stand for 1/2 hour (taste deepens).
Top the bread slices with the tomatoes and garnish with basil leaves.
