Homemade Salsa Recipe
Spaniards conquered Mexico between 519-1521. For the first time they came across tomatoes and thats when salsa originated.
Initially, tomatoes were combined with chili peppers, ground squash seeds and consumed as a condiment. But by the turn of the 19th century, salsa began expanding nationwide.
The increasing popularity for salsa was attributed, to the fondness for spicy foods in America. Scondly, being low in calories, and high in vitamins and fibre, it was perceived as a health food.
Charles E. Erath of New Orleans became the first in salsa manufacturing.
