Hoisin Sauce Recipe

A soya based sweet - salty sauce, usually used for Chinese barbecuing and stir fry recipes.
Hoisin sauce has a strong pungent odour. It is dark in colour usually of a thick consistency.
So if trying for the first time, use the sauce sparingly.
To reduce the strength of the sauce, you can dilute it with water.


Hoisin Sauce


Ingredients:
1 tbsp - Sesame oil
2 tbsp - Black bean paste or Peanut butter
6 tbsp - Soy sauce
1 tbsp - Honey or brown sugar
1/4 tsp - Garlic powder or fresh garlic
1/4 tsp - Pepper
1 tbsp - Hot chilli sauce or any Chinese hot sauce


Method:
Whisk the ingredients together till you get a smooth paste and store till use.

Make sure once you open the bottle you store it in an air tight container in the refrigerator only.
