Cheese Appetizers – Cheese Wrappers
These versatile wrappers are perfect for making party food appetizers. They can be served both hot and cold.
Some popular options include a combination of cream cheese with jalapenos served with Chinese plum sauce. Or prepare chilli con queso mix and add it to pre-baked wonton cups. Similarly, you can have taco wontons or goat cheese and figs. The choice is endless.
Ingredients:
10 No – Wonton Wrappers
4 tbsp – Olive oil or Butter
1/2 cup – Oil for frying
8 No – Button mushrooms chopped
1 cup – Cream cheese
1 cup – Cheddar cheese
2 No – Onion large chopped
1 tsp – Garlic
1 tsp – Dried parsley
1/8 tsp – Pepper
Salt to taste
Method:
Heat oil in a pan and add onion and garlic, saute over low heat for a min.
Then add mushrooms.
Keep stirring continuously and when onions turn pinkish remove from heat.
Place the cream cheese in a bowl and beat till fluffy.
Add the rest and stir until well combined.
Place the wrappers on a flat surface and add some filling in the centre.
Dampen one end with water or oil and fold in half, to form a rectangle.
Repeat the process with the other 2 ends to get a smaller rectangle. Make sure to seal the edges well.
Fry wontons in small batches until they are light golden brown.
Remove and place on paper toweling to absorb any excess oil.
