Best Appetizer Recipes – Cauliflower Sticks
There are 4 distinct varieties of cauliflower
White – the regular creamy, sweet, slightly nutty flavoured one whose florets are commonly eaten. But the stem and leaves are also edible.
Purple – it cooks faster than the white and has a little milder taste. On cooking its color changes from purple to green. Purple cauliflower can be substituted for white in most recipes.
Orange – it was first discovered in Canada in 1970 but after decades of crossbreeding it has been rightly developed. It has a high content of beta-carotene, Vitamin A content is approximately 25 times higher than white cauliflower. The nutritional value makes this vegetable a popular choice.
Broccoflower – a mix of light, bright green in color. It has a slightly sweeter taste than regular cauliflower. On cooking or eating raw and its taste is similar to broccoli.
Ingredients:
4 tbsp – Oil
10 No – Cauliflower florets (cut long stems)
1/2 tsp – Sesame seeds
1/2 tsp – Paprika
Batter mix
1/4 cup – Thick yogurt
1 tsp – Garlic powder
1 tbsp – Coriander finely chopped
1 tbsp – Mint finely chopped
1/4 tsp – Pepper
Sea salt to taste
Method:
Heat oil in a pan and briefly stir fry the florets.
Mix all the batter ingredients together and soak the florets in it for at least 20 mins.
Sprinkle paprika seasme seeds and serve. Choose from a variety of Gourmet Appetizers
You can use this as a dip and serve with raw vegetables (cucumber, tomato, carrots).
Option: Whisk the above batter in 1/2 cup of cheese spread and then serve as a dip with cauliflower or top it on canapes, rolls etc.
